Access management technology from Cryptek is now available to resellers seeking to meet stringent U.S. Government and corporate security standards for multi-function devices
Sterling, VA (PRWEB) August 21, 2008 — Cryptek, Inc. (www.cryptek.com), a leading provider of secure networking products and solutions today announced its new Netgard™ MFD card-reader appliance solution for managing secure access to multi-function devices (MFDs) that print, scan and copy documents electronically.
The Netgard™ MFD security appliance provides multi-factor, identity access authentication for multi-function devices. The Netgard™ MFD security appliance enforces security by requiring users to authenticate themselves with an electronic access card and PIN (personal identification number). The Netgard™ MFD appliance restricts network access from the multi-function device (for example, scan to file share/scan to email) by requiring that the user first insert a valid identity card, such as the Department of Defense (DOD)-issued Common Access Card (CAC), and PIN, assuring that restricted information is not transmitted via the organization’s network.
“Cryptek is introducing a series of new products that leverage our company’s core competence in information security,” said Bill Anderson, Cryptek President & CEO. “Our new Netgard™ MFD product extends the value of multi-function devices that print, scan and copy documents to organizations that have previously restricted their use due to security policies and restrictions. The Netgard™ MFD appliance is just one example of how Cryptek products promote productivity without compromising security.”
The Netgard™ MFD security appliance from Cryptek is easy-to-use and easy-to-install. The product includes an intuitive, Web-based administration interface to easily and remotely manage security policy for multi-function devices fitted with the Netgard™ MFD appliance.
The Netgard™ MFD can be ordered with new multi-function devices or easily retrofitted to devices that are already installed in the client environment. Using the Netgard™ MFD security appliance, multi-function devices will support the requirements of HSPD-12 (Homeland Security Presidential Directive) and the U.S. Department of Defense Common Access Card Issuance Mandate.
